Mindy Marqués Gonzalez, Vice President and Executive Editor
Mindy Marqués is acquiring general nonfiction and select literary and commercial fiction. She is interested in narrative nonfiction and immersive journalism books that examine the more complex issues of our time, be it politics, culture, social justice, or the natural world. She is also interested in memoir, autobiography/biography, humor and history that illuminates the present through the prism of the past.
Among the books she has published are: New York Times bestsellers True Gretch by trailblazing Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer, Roctogenarians by CBS Sunday Morning correspondent Mo Rocca, Rebel Rising by Australian actress Rebel Wilson, Our Hidden Conversations by award-winning journalist Michele Norris, and Dinners with Ruth by NPR legal correspondent Nina Totenberg. Other notable titles include Give Me Liberty by Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist David E. Hoffman and The Pardon by New York Times bestselling author Jeffrey Toobin. Upcoming titles include Making the Best of What’s Left by author and poet Judith Viorst, Desi Arnaz by veteran journalist Todd S. Marqués joined Simon & Schuster in 2020 after a thirty-four-year career as a journalist, most recently as publisher and executive editor of The Miami Herald and el Nuevo Herald. During her tenure, The Miami Herald received two Pulitzer Prizes and was a finalist four times. Marqués also was the Miami bureau chief for People magazine, overseeing coverage in the southeastern US, the Caribbean, and Latin America. She received the Benjamin C. Bradlee Editor of the Year award in 2019 and is a former member of the Pulitzer Prize Board. A native New Yorker and first-generation Cuban American, Mindy lives in South Florida with her husband and two children.
