Jonathan Merritt, Vice President and Executive Editor

Jonathan Merritt joined Simon & Schuster as Vice President and Executive Editor, where he is focused on acquisitions in religion/faith/spirituality category as well as select general market non-fiction. An award-winning contributing writer for The Atlantic and recipient of four Wilbur Awards for excellence in journalism, his work has appeared regularly in outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, Christianity Today, The Daily Beast and USA Today.

Previously, Jonathan served as a literary agent with the Christopher Ferebee Agency and as Senior Media Strategist for Icon Media Group. His cultural commentary has been featured on ABC World News, Good Morning America, NPR, MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, PBS, and CBS' "60 Minutes." He is the author of several acclaimed books, including Learning to Speak God from Scratch, named "Book of the Year" by the Englewood Review of Books, and has collaborated on dozens of titles that have landed on The New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal and Publishers Weekly bestsellers lists.

Jonathan holds master's degrees from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Emory University's Candler School of Theology, with additional graduate work in Christian mysticism at The General Theological Seminary.
